It's all go!
After what felt like an eternity of dotting i’s and crossing t’s, the fit-out of our new home began in the first week of August.
I want to sincerely thank our Trustees for their diligence and support as we move to this next important stage. They have worked hard to ensure we remain in a sustainable financial position by meeting with lead contractors, examining building contracts, and reviewing insurance requirements. Thanks to their due diligence, we are delighted to announce that Stark Maintenance has been awarded the contract to complete the fit-out. We have the utmost confidence that Stark Maintenance, together with our design advisors, Designwell, will deliver something that fosters community and feels like our home.
Of course, there are a host of contractors and sub-contractors involved in this whole process. Please pray for the safety of those on-site, that this project will be life-giving for them, and that they will feel the presence of God at 490 Grey Street.
The demolition team began the first stage of the fit-out process on the 4th of August by removing walls and other structures to make way for our auditorium, kids' spaces, toilets, kitchen, hosting space, and of course, the chapel. We expect this demolition phase to take six weeks.
Finally, we handed over ownership of 950 Victoria Street to McDonald's on the 11th of August. As you are all aware, we are blessed to continue calling this our home until the end of November.
