Crave Goes to the Blue Lake

Blue Lakes happens to be one of the most beautiful spots in Aotearoa and Crave is taking FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT!

Bring: $15, a packed lunch, sunscreen, togs, towel and a change of clothes is what you will need if you’re considering either coming along OR sending your high schooler.

We will be leaving at 10 am for a full day of playing sport, lying around in the sun like seals, ALOT of swimming MAYBE some biscuiting behind a boat and then coming back for some dinner and the Sunday night gathering at the House of G.

If you want to come and you haven’t spoken to a leader about it , Give Wend or Matt a call at the Office on 839 1284

That’s right people, the sun is shinning and we thinks it’s worth going with the plan and having our evening gathering down at the Hamilton Gardens tonight.

6:30 pm in the small amphitheater next to the renaissance garden.

It might pay to bring a umbrella but here’s hoping we have a good time in the sun!!

Operation Christmas Child

Christmas is coming – 12 weeks!

Again this year we are keen to partner with Samaritans Purse in their Operation Christmas Child where they distribute Christmas Boxes to children around the world who are victims of war, poverty, famine and disease.

Pick up a box and info you need to put a box together at the Info Desk, and lets help make it a Christmas to remember for some precious kids. Filled boxes can be left at the Info Desk. They will be collected on Sunday 23rd October.

NB: Parents, you can pick up an ‘ideas’ sheet of how you can make this a valuable project to do with your children over the school holidays from the Info Desk.

But that’s okay, because its Daylight Savings and that means warmer weather!

So make sure you put your clocks an hour forward when you go to bed Saturday night, otherwise you might miss out on our awesome gatherings.

Preschool Seminar with CBM

On Saturday August 27th CBM (Childrens Bible Ministries) will be coming to Gateway for a day of training.
If you are a parent, grandparent or teacher and have a preschooler in your life, this course will encourage and equip you to minister to your preschooler.

When: August 27th, 9.30am-3.30pm
Where: Gateway Church in the Babies Nursery
Cost: $70 per person
Includes full notes and practical workshop sessions.

Wednesday Night Meals Support

Recently, we’ve heard a lot about our Wednesday Night Meals; Donald gave us an inside look in the spiffing new August edition of the Gateway magazine, we’ve had bbqs to fundraise for a few new essential items, and we’ve had an AWESOME renovation of the kitchen to keep this ministry booming.

More important information; it costs between $300 – $400 every week to feed over 200 people. The team does an incredible job to feed everyone at approx $2 a head!

It’s a massive task, and we need your help as a church community to keep it going. Want to contribute?
Meals would GREATLY appreciate the following:

6 bags of potatoes
Bags of carrots
Any vegetables
Stacks of tinned fruit
Custard powder
Bags of flour
Bags of sugar

You can drop them off at the back of the church on a Sunday, or at the kitchen or office during the week.
If you’re keen to contribute on a regular basis, collect a Westpac AP form from the info desk.

ISOW (International School Of Worship)

We are really excited to be hosting iSOW, (International School of Worship ) here again at Gateway, in the second week of the July School Holidays (July 26-28).

iSOW has been described as “a Spirit led program designed to take children and youth (8-14) and their worship leaders into the presence of God through praise and worship and encounter Jesus in a real and personal way.

Over the three days the children have times of teaching on worship ,training on how to lead worship, learning how to write songs and times of praise and worship. All this is done in a fun way that captivates the hearts of the children and their leaders alike.

The program is run by Brendon and Cathie Clancy, founders of Overflow Kids International.

There are two more evenings of gathered worship here at Gateway as part of ‘A Thin Place’. Come and join us at 8pm – it has been an incredible week. There have been loads of touching stories coming out of people’s experience in the prayer room so get along to that – its open 24 hours and there are still slots available on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Give the office a call to find out more or get your name down for a slot.
